Welcome to the Studio Voices Summer Music Camp!
Experience the dynamic environment of Studio Voices Summer Music Camp. This year, we are offering two specialized tracks for students. Whether you're into harmonies, crafting compositions, or studio techniques, our camp is your platform for musical exploration.
Held at the beautiful Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students will spend five days immersed in a welcoming and creative college campus setting.
Event Highlights
Choral track: Immerse yourself in the world of choral singing! Ideal for those who enjoy harmonizing in a group, our choral track offers more than just melodies. You'll participate in dynamic rehearsals, engage in music fundamentals/theory and explore the basics of crafting songs alongside fellow campers. Directed by Dr. Kathleen Hollingsworth, CCC director of vocal music. View the "Agenda" section below for details.
Recording track: Step into the realm of audio recording and production with our recording track! Tailored for singer-songwriters and audio enthusiasts, this track gives students the opportunity to learn recording basics and collaborate with other campers. Get a crash-course in Pro Tools recording software, record original tracks and run studio sessions. From learning live performance recording skills to recording new music in the studio, you'll unlock new possibilities in audio creation. Friday concert: Conclude the camp with a performance by the choir and singer/songwriters, while recording students have the opportunity to record live, documenting the performances. It's a culmination of the week's learning and a celebration of musical creativity!
Camp scholarship opportunity: We are excited to offer a camp scholarship for experienced rhythm section musicians! This opportunity allows talented pianists, bassists and drummers to play with the choir and participate in studio sessions. Interested applicants should send a video audition showcasing their skills.
Who Can Attend?
Registration is open to musicians entering grades 9-12, as well as college students and community members. Come as you are; all musical skill levels are welcome!

We accept credit and debit cards. Registration closes on Friday, July 19 at 11:59 p.m. Refunds are available by request through Friday, July 5 at 11:59 pm.
If registration is sold out, please add your name to the wait list. We may be able to open more spots.
What To Bring
- Food/drink - students should bring refillable water bottles and snacks. Bag lunch is encouraged. Student with parent/guardian permission may purchase lunch off campus.
- Clothing - students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, as building temperature may vary.

Camp will be held at Clackamas Community College in the Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts. Free parking is available in Yellow Lot 2. 9:45-10:30 a.m. Music Fundamentals/Music Theory
Delve into the foundational elements of music theory tailored to your level of experience. Whether you're a beginner or have intermediate/advanced knowledge, our interactive sessions will deepen your understanding and spark creativity.
10:30 a.m.-noon Choir rehearsal
Refine your vocal skills and harmonize with others in dynamic group rehearsals.
Noon-1 p.m. Lunch
Recharge and connect with fellow campers over a midday break. Campers are encouraged to bring their own lunch or money to purchase food at the neighboring strip mall off-campus.
1-2 p.m. Songwriting
Tap into your creativity and learn the basics of crafting songs in interactive workshops.
2-3 p.m. Guest performance
Experience live performances by talented artists and gain inspiration for your own musical journey.
3:30-5 p.m. Choir rehearsal
Conclude your day with another choir rehearsal, perfecting your vocal technique and ensemble performance.

10:30 a.m.-noon Introduction to Pro Tools
Get started with Pro Tools in our introductory session. Participants will work in the MIDI lab and receive an overview of this industry-standard audio recording software. Familiarize yourself with the features and functionalities of Pro Tools as you begin your exploration into audio production.
Noon-1 p.m. Lunch
Recharge and connect with fellow campers over a midday break. Campers are encouraged to bring their own lunch or money to purchase food at the neighboring strip mall off-campus.
1-2 p.m. Songwriting
Tap into your creativity and learn the basics of crafting songs in interactive workshops.
2-5 p.m. Recording Session
Experience hands-on learning within a studio environment, where you'll explore essential audio recording techniques. From laying down tracks to mixing beats, this session is perfect for campers eager to bring their own songs to life and collaborate with fellow music enthusiasts. Conclude the camp by capturing live performances, all while building connections with like-minded peers and honing your skills in recording music.

Overview
Clackamas Summer Band Camp is a week-long summer music program that's perfect for instrumental musicians of all levels who want to improve their skills, play fun and challenging wind ensemble repertoire and learn about music theory. Held at the beautiful Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students learn from renowned Portland-area musicians in a comfortable college campus setting, with plenty of rehearsal time. Camp runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily with a Friday evening concert. Conducted by Lars Campbell, CCC director of instrumental music.
Who can attend?
Registration is open to students entering grades 9-13 with at least two years of experience in a school ensemble. Students who play flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, piano and percussion are encouraged to register! Staff
Conductor: Lars Campbell, CCC director of instrumental music
Lars Campbell has been the director of instrumental music at Clackamas Community College since 2013. He directs the CCC Wind Ensemble and the CCC Jazz Ensemble, and currently serves as the chair of the Music Department. He conducts a variety of ensembles outside the college setting, in performance and recordings. He conducts at Clackamas Repertory Theater each year, leading a group of area professionals in the orchestra pit to excellent reviews. In 2021 he conducted the world premiere of Darrell Grant’s jazz opera Sanctuaries for Third Angle New Music. In addition to his conducting duties, he maintains an extremely active trombone performance career in the evenings, performing frequently with the orchestras of the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater and Portland Opera, as well as many jazz performance groups.

Sibling discount and need-based scholarship may be available. Please inquire at ami.collofello@clackamas.edu.
What to bring
- Instruments - students should expect to bring their own instruments. Piano and percussion will be provided. Loaner instruments may be available upon request.
- Equipment - students should come prepared with extra reeds, valve oil, rosin, neck straps, tuners and anything else necessary for a full day of playing. Stands and chairs are provided.
- Food/drink - students should bring refillable water bottles and snacks. Bag lunch is encouraged. Students with parent/guardian permission may leave campus for lunch.
- Clothing - students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, as building temperature may vary.
