CCC Music Festivals
The music department at Clackamas Community College has orchestrated quality music festivals since 1971, bringing high school students from all parts of the Northwest to the CCC campus to perform and compete. The college now hosts several festivals, giving some 75 schools and thousands of students the opportunity to perform in the Niemeyer Center for the most prestigious of judges - professionals at the top of their respective fields! See below for specific information about festivals, including applications, directions, and results from the previous year's festival.
Music Festivals include
Wind ensembles from Oregon high schools come together to perform and learn from one another in this state-qualifying contest, set in the beautiful and intimate Osterman Theater in the Niemeyer Center, competing to enter the Oregon School Activities Association State Band Championship.
We will once again be able to accommodate only the first twelve bands who confirm their intention to participate in the festival, so it's very important to get your materials in early. The festival is an event which can qualify ensembles for the OSAA State Band Championship tape pool.
9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Niemeyer Center, Oregon City campus
The CCC Vocal Jazz Festival has a long-standing tradition of promoting education and outstanding performance in the northwest, the birthplace of collegiate Vocal Jazz. The festival brings young singers together to learn about jazz, America’s authentic art form.
Awards include The Spirit Award, Division I, II, II awards and Outstanding Soloist/Outstanding Instrumentalist Award, which includes a full scholarship to CCC for two years. Each junior high or high school group will be offered three clinic sessions. Ensembles will have the opportunity to work two with esteemed vocal jazz educators and a special session for the instrumentalists to work with a professional rhythm section.

Talented young musicians from middle, junior high and high schools in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho and Canada compete during the annual Instrumental Jazz Festival. Each day, bands compete in preliminaries during the daytime, with each evening featuring a playoff round.
Evening playoffs determine the winners from the top three bands in each division who performed during the day, and at the conclusion of the festival, three scholarships are offered to three of the outstanding soloists at the festival.
Three days of workshops and clinics culminate in the annual Garage Band Competition. Event dates TBD.
